Update report on Ambepusse project – Rehabilitation of child soldiers

Ambepusse Rehabilitation Centre is closed as of 15th November. Some of the children have been reunited with their family and friends and the rest have been transferred to Ratmalana Hindu College near Colombo. There are currently around 277 children being cared for at the Ratmalana Hindu College compound and nearly half of them were transferred from Ambepusse Rehabilitation Centre. Some of the children are undergoing education in order to join the mainstream education system and the rest are continuing with their vocational training which they started in Ambepusse. Brigadier Perera is in charge of this operation.

Little Aid is continuing their musical training programme in Ratmalana Hindu College. Little Aid delayed the handover of the second and final part of the instrument delivery due to the closure of Ambepusse. Now we have taken all necessary action to hand over the second and final set of instruments to the new compound within a week, in order to continue to provide music education for the children. This project is £3385 and you can see exactly what your money is providing on our website: www.littleaid.org.uk

Bellow are photographs taken at the Ratmalana Hindu College where the children are looked after. You can identify some children who appeared on the Little Aid documentary in July 09 (www.littleaid.org.uk).
